It’s Melanie from Reasons To Skip The Housework – and not only do I skip the housework a lot because I really don’t like housework, but I also have a four year old girl at home. Not much gets done during the day in my house. We do a lot of playing house, playing dress up, and having tea parties.
Also, when you have a four-year-old, stickers kind of rule your house. It’s not just a one time “fad.” They’re an all day, every day kind of thing. They’re on every wall of my house and I find them in all kinds of places: pockets, bottom of my feet, in the refrigerator . . . I could keep going on and on.
So, when I decided I’d had enough of the Princess stickers and Hello Kitty stickers, I decided to make my own stickers that she could stick everywhere.
Enter my washi tape. I have a giant bin of it. Too much of it, really – because I’m a bit of a washi tape hoarder. The stuff is just so functional and every day I find something new on Pinterest that I can use washi tape for.
These DIY washi tape stickers are so easy to make and with so many varieties of washi tape out now, the possibilities are endless. Learn how to make stickers with washi tape below.
How to Make Stickers
To make your own stickers with washi tape you simply need to grab some washi tape, wax paper, and a shape paper puncher thingy!
Place your washi tape down on the wax paper, overlapping the pieces slightly. I found that certain patterns worked better for overlapping, and if you’ve got some darker patterns, those work beautifully!
You can overlap more than two patterns if you have a larger paper punch. I used a 2″ circle and 1 1/2″ star cutout for these stickers, but there are so many paper punch options nowadays, you can make any size and any shape stickers you want!
Once you have your tape down and overlapped, cut them into smaller squares so your paper cutter will fit on the patterns you want!
Punch those puppies out and when you’re ready to put them on your surface, just peel the wax paper off the back and place your sticker down!
Making your own Washi Tape Stickers is a simple activity and it’s perfect for rainy days or long summer days. The kids will stay busy for hours!
