Learn how to decorate a headband the easiest way ever! All you need are a plastic headband and washi tape. No crafting skills required to do this project.
Bad hair days. We all have them.
I have long hair and I’m always looking for new ways to wear it (a.k.a. lazy ways to make it look nice without much effort).
Lately, I’ve been trying out headbands and I like them! They look cute, even if I’m just pulling my hair back in a ponytail.
I found a multipack of headbands at the dollar store . . . they were narrow, plain and simple . . . and begging for a little crafty alteration. Washi tape was an easy way to quickly update a headband. Let me show you!
Decorate a Plastic Headband
- Washi tape, in a couple of patterns or colors
- Headband (narrow and flat ones work best)
- Mod Podge
Starting at one end, wrap a strip of tape around the headband to cover one section. Trim the tape with scissors and press the tape down.
Repeat that same process with another strip of tape in an alternating color or pattern. Continue alternating the colored strips until the entire headband is covered.
Apply a coat of Mod Podge over all of the tape (on the underside and outside of the band) to seal the tape down. Allow the decoupage to dry and wear your fun new accessory!
I love the combo of the pink and turquoise together . . . it feels fresh and summery. This headband will come in handy when I don’t feel like wearing jewelry but want a fun way to dress up my outfit a little (or for those bad hair days!).
