Did you know that you can turn washi tape into flowers? Use this technique to make these cute floral DIY gift tags – so easy!
Hi! It’s Melanie from It Happens in a Blink, and I have a summery gift tag for you today. I made several of these in ten minutes, and I have them on hand for last minute gift giving.
Even if I don’t give a handmade gift, I like knowing that I can add a special touch to my gift wrapping. And with the large variety of washi tape available, I can make a tag to go with any gift wrap color scheme.
DIY Gift Tags
Ready to make these? You’ll need the following supplies:
- Washi tape
- Craft buttons
- Blank gift tag – if you have a cutting machine, like a Cricut or Silhouette, you can cut your own. If not, pick up blank ones at a local craft store
- A spot of glue or a Glue Dot
Begin by cutting a length of washi tape approximately 1.5″. This is a piece of washi tape for the petal, so use the appropriate color.
Fold the piece of washi tape not quite in half– leaving a portion of the sticky tape exposed.
Make three of these and place them on the tag. You will not need any glue for this step– use the exposed sticky portion.
Cut a piece of green washi tape for the stem. Place in it the center of the tag, and make sure that it is long enough that the top will be covered by the remaining petal pieces.
Cut five more petal pieces of washi tape and fold them like those in the above step. Apply those on the gift tag in a flower pattern.
Grab an appropriate sized craft button and glue it in the center.
Now stock up! Make a lot of these to have for quick gifting. If you create one, I’d love for you to upload it to my Facebook page so that I can see it!
